This week, Azerbaijan presented new TV monitoring service; Russia created “the military internet” for defense purposes and wants to impose taxes on foreign online shops; Armenia ratified the Collective Security Treaty Organization protocol on cybercrime prevention; Uzbekistan plans to create a web portal for all civil organizations; Uzbekistan Airlines began selling tickets online; Ukrainian online shops suffered from credit card theft; Tajik citizen sentenced to two years in prison for propaganda of terrorism.

Eurasia ICT Digest: Oct 10-14, 2016

This week, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan worked on advancement of their emergency alert systems; Google warned Russian journalists and activists about government-backed attackers; Belarus introduced value-added tax on digital content sold on foreign distribution platforms; Kazakh internet providers cut off supply to Kyrgyzstan despite the reached agreements; Ukrainian and Turkish companies agreed to build passive radars together; Russian antimonopoly regulator and Sbernak launched a blockchain-based project on document storage. Also, Kyiv hosted Ukrainian forum on internet governance; Moldova will create an online public procurement system; Collective Security Treaty Organization plans to build a crisis response center as an additional anti-terrorism measure.

Also, Armenia hosted the second forum on internet governance and RIPE NCC regional meeting; Ukraine became an associate member of CERN; Kyrgyzstan started digitizing population census data; Tajikistan will install CCTV camera in Dushanbe mosques; Russian internet copyright protection activist Maksim Ryabyko was arrested over charges of fraud.
